Case study: how Ocean82 turned a bottle into an object of desire
Some projects perfectly embody what we do at Bulles Signature: turning a bottle of champagne into a brand extension, an object of desire, a precious keepsake.
The story of Ocean82 is one of them. Here is how this beach club and restaurant in Saint-Martin created its signature cuvée, and what this case can inspire in other venues.
The context: an exceptional venue looks for its champagne
Ocean82 is an iconic beach club in Saint-Martin, in the Caribbean. A French restaurant and beach club, the venue embodies the tropical art of living blended with European elegance. An international, demanding clientele, used to the best.
The ambition: to offer an exclusive champagne, impossible to find anywhere else, in the image of the venue.
The challenge
To create a bottle that withstands tropical conditions (heat, humidity, sun, ice bucket), that reflects the venue's visual identity and that becomes an object worth photographing and sharing.
Choosing the cuvée
Ocean82 opted for a Brut with character, from the Dominique Boulard house: lively, fruity, perfect for the festive atmosphere of a beach club. A Rosé was added as a second cuvée, to meet the natural demand under the Caribbean sun.
Choosing the finish: why tin became the obvious choice
The conditions of use were demanding:
- high temperatures;
- direct exposure to the sun;
- the ice bucket, condensation and sand;
- repeated handling during festive service.
A paper label would not have held up. Tin became the obvious choice: absolute resistance, a unique feel, an unmatched visual presence. To understand this finish in detail, read our tin label guide.
The design: consistency and boldness
The goal was to translate the identity of Ocean82 onto a label of just a few square centimeters. The codes chosen:
- a deep ocean blue, the signature of the venue;
- a warm gold, to evoke the sun and luxury;
- an embossed logo in relief;
- a satin finish that catches the light of the setting sun.
The result: a label that evokes the world of the beach club without needing to name it.
The result
- Commercially: the cuvée became the best-selling champagne of the venue.
- On social media: Instagram posts multiplied.
- In terms of loyalty: regular customers ask again for “their” champagne at every visit.
The bottle has become as iconic as the venue itself.
What a signature cuvée can bring to a venue
Beyond the Ocean82 case, a well-designed signature cuvée can play several roles:
- Create an experience: as soon as the bottle arrives at the table, it sparks a reaction.
- Generate content: a photogenic bottle makes people want to share it.
- Build loyalty: customers come back for “their” champagne, the one they can only find in this place.
- Support margin: an exclusive cuvée cannot be compared to any known product.
What a professional should remember
- Think use before aesthetics. The choice of tin was not only aesthetic, it was functional. Your context of use guides the finish.
- Invest in consistency. The label extends the identity of the venue: it does not slap a logo on a bottle, it tells a story.
- Aim for emotion. A bottle that people want to photograph, show off and keep is a successful bottle.
- Look at the overall benefit. Tin requires a higher investment, to be weighed against the image, the loyalty and the content it generates.
